Date: November 16, 2016
On Thursday the 24th of November at 7pm there is a Slow Food East Cork event:
Tutored Chocolate Tasting with Nancy Gilchrist at Ballymaloe Cookery School.
Nancy Gilchrist MW is an enthusiastic and popular independent wine educator based in southeast England but she also has close links with South Africa where she teaches and runs wine tours on a seasonal basis.
She became a Master of Wine, the highest and most rigorous wine qualification in the world, in 1995.
There are currently only 319 people globally who hold this title.
In addition to wine, Nancy is also an educator for both olive oil and chocolate and is a regular Grand Jury judge for The International Chocolate Awards.
She has recently helped to set up the world’s first certificated chocolate tasting course.
Chocolate has much in common with wine. As a natural product it is highly influenced by climate, weather, soil, aspect, and slope.
As a result, the single origin chocolate bars that are now appearing on the world market, have very distinct and different characteristics.
