Every Sunday the chefs at Ballymaloe House create a magnificent buffet. There is usually a selection of cold fish and shellfish dishes, warm meats and tempting salads to delight the most jaded palate.  The food is everything you would expect, the presentation dazzling and the general atmosphere warm and inviting. The room, if you don’t know it, is beautiful and hits the perfect note between formal and comfortable. 

The Ballymaloe Buffet Course begins in Ballymaloe House at 6.30pm on Sunday evening, giving you a chance to see the Buffet as it is presented. 

Buffets are the perfect way to entertain. They allow you to feed any number of guests from, four to four hundred with the minimum of fuss. If you want you can arrange the event so that everything is prepared beforehand and you can also choose to serve as much or as little as you want.

This course will cover every aspect of preparing, cooking and presenting a buffet. It will suggest themes linked to the seasons and different types of cuisine. There will be a strong emphasis on classic buffet recipes including (but by no means limited to):

  • A Selection of Homemade Pates and Terrines
  • Classic Whole Poached Blackwater Salmon with Homemade Mayonnaise
  • Sticky Glazed Ham
  • Traditional Roast Stuffed Turkey with Cranberry Sauce
  • Potato and Spring Onion Salad
  • Mushroom and Caramelised Onion Salad
  • Courgette Salad with Courgette Blossom
  • Pickled Carrot with Star Anise
  • Cucumber Pickle
  • Ballymaloe Beetroot Pickle
  • Homemade Ice-cream with Sugared Peaches and Raspberry Sauce


Dinner is included on the Sunday and lunch is included on the Monday.
