We’re so excited about Kitty Travers Ice Cream Course – when we met recently in London at her Ice Cream Shed, Kitty gave me a taste of several of her delicious ice cream and sorbets – we’re really in for a treat.
On this 1½ day course Kitty will show us how to make 7 different types of vanilla ice cream each with its own delicious flavour, texture and unique attributes. With this as a basis one can do a myriad of different flavours. How about Bitter Apricot, Peach and Tarragon, Strawberry, Redcurrant and Rosepetal Ice cream, Blood Orange, Lemon and Bergamot, Cucumber and Sour Cream, Raspberry and Fig Leaf, Nectarine and Basil, Raspberry, Rhubarb and Angelica, Peach Leaf Ice cream, Ricotta, Chocolate and Candied Peel......
We’ll also learn how to make granitas and sorbets and irresistible popsicles, pick up all sorts of professional tips including advice on what equipment to buy as well as serving suggestions. In two demonstrations and one practical session you can try it all out for yourself.
Kitty Travers is the founder of La Grotta Ices and has attained what can only be described as cult status since she started her ice cream business in 2009.
What makes Kitty’s ice creams and sorbets so mouthwateringly delicious is the way she uses and combines fresh ingredients. Examples include apple and blackberry, pear and bergamot, fig, chocolate and hazelnut. Although she does make more conventional flavors too. Everything is natural and seasonal and the flavours are amazingly bright and intense. Kitty has worked in New York, Naples, Rome, Iceland and Russia to master her art. She only makes small batches and sells her ice creams and sorbets from the back of her Piaggio scooter at London’s Maltby Street.
