The Farm Kids will become fully immersed in the life of the organic farm at the Ballymaloe Cookery School and will learn how to make homemade butter, sow seeds, bake bread….
On Day 1, we will start in the dairy helping to milk the cows then out onto the farm to work alongside the gardeners to learn about organic farming practices, the soil, wiggly worms, wildlife, chickens and farm animals.
The children will spend time planting, harvesting and tasting produce in the glasshouse, collecting eggs, foraging for wild foods and cooking lunch on an open fire.
The following morning, we will gather ingredients for our morning cooking in the school kitchen. When lunch is ready the children will get to work opening their 'Farm Cafe' so parents can come along, taste and enjoy.
The course is aimed at kids from 7 - 12 years of age.
